Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki Turns Attention to Sadr City Following widespread conflict between security forces and the Mahdi Army (Jaish al-Mahdi) during March 2008 in southern Iraq, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki signalled his intent to target the militia's strongholds in Baghdad districts in a statement issued on 4 April 2008. VBIED Attack on Danish Embassy, Islamabad, Pakistan, 2 June 2008 On 2 June 2008 a vehicle-borne device functioned close to the Danish Embassy in a residential street in Islamabad, Pakistan. Eight or nine people were killed and around 35 people were injured. The embassy was in operation but only four members of staff were in the building at the time, none of whom were seriously injured.
